Real stories are timeless — it’s worth remembering.
It’s not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we want to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can’t tell my children to reach the sun. All I can do is reach to it, myself. ~ Joyce Maynard.
“Do you like traveling? “ — a patient with stage four aggressive lymphoma asked me one day after his chemotherapy session.
“Yes, I do.” — I answered. “ I haven’t seen many places yet though.”- I added.
“You should go everywhere and see many countries, discover new things and new places. We have only one shot. Use it.” — he said.
Sighing, he continued: “I have promised my son to travel around the world this year” ….
I found the truth in these words and I was deeply moved by them. Feelings of sincere love, fear and sadness, disappointment and regret that life is slipping through his fingers — all very important.
Real stories are timeless — it’s worth remembering.
